The Regional Sales Manager will oversee and drive sales growth by developing and managing relationships with key foodservice accounts, distributors, and brokers.

This role includes building strong relationships with foodservice customers, coordinating with brokers to ensure alignment with company objectives, and driving sales strategies to expand market share and profitable growth. The ideal candidate will have a background in foodservice sales, experience managing brokers, and a track record of achieving sales targets.

Account Management

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned distributors and key foodservice accounts, including restaurants, hotels, institutional customers, and other foodservice operators within the territory.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits to educate customers, conduct product presentations, and ensure product availability and visibility.
  • Provide personalized support to understand customer needs, offer solutions and expand product usage.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets and expand market share within the assigned region.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with customers to achieve profitable outcomes while meeting customer needs.

Broker Coordination And Oversight

  • Act as the primary liaison with brokers, ensuring alignment on company goals and product positioning. Ensuring they have the support, training, and tools to represent SMC effectively.
  • Develop and communicate clear expectations and objectives to brokers, holding them accountable for achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Regularly review broker performance, provide feedback, and implement improvement strategies to ensure alignment with sales goals.
  • Collaborate with brokers to plan and execute account-specific strategies to maximize reach and impact.

Sales Strategy Development And Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the foodservice channel, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader business objectives.
  • Collaborate with brokers to implement sales plans tailored to the foodservice market and SMC goals.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the territory and develop plans for market expansion.

Market Analysis And Reporting

  • Gather and report on market trends, customer preferences, and competitive activities to identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Prepare regular performance reports, summarizing broker activities, sales results, and market insights for senior management.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to adjust strategies as needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to develop promotional materials, product information, and customer resources.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure product availability and timely delivery to customers and distributors.
  • Provide training to brokers and customer-facing teams on product knowledge, sales techniques, and market positioning.
  • Work closely with internal departments, including sales operations and product teams, to ensure consistent and effective product offerings.
  • Share customer feedback and field observations to assist in product development and sales strategy refinement.

Customer Service And Relationship Building

  • Act as the key contact for foodservice customers, providing ongoing support, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Foster long-term relationships with both brokers and customers to build loyalty, enhance brand presence, and encourage repeat business.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, including customer interactions, sales goals, and broker performance metrics.
  • Prepare reports, sales forecasts, and territory analyses to keep leadership informed of field activities and market conditions.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in foodservice sales, including broker management and account management in the foodservice industry.
  • Strong understanding of broker dynamics, sales strategy, and the foodservice industry.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with distributors and brokers, driving results through effective partnerships.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with current foodservice trends and consumer preferences.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance in the foodservice sector.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently, with a proactive approach to meeting sales goals and expanding market reach.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed to manage brokers and support distributors and key foodservice accounts.
