The Area Sales Director (ASD) will focus appropriately on advancing the Opzelura business to exceed set performance targets through establishing a high performance and compliant culture. The role leads a team of Dermatology Business Directors (DBDs) responsible for demand generation and developing talent within their teams consisting of Dermatology Therapeutic specialists.
These teams are dedicated to success within the dermatology business and the Opzelura franchise to maximize business opportunities, and they work collaboratively with other key functions within the dermatology business. This role will lead the South Area representing the following 6 priority regions: Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Gulf, North Texas/Oklahoma and South Texas.
Essential Functions Of The Job (Key Responsibilities)
- Develop, hire, coach, high performing strategic teams to ensure optimal productivity; fosters a creative, innovative, supportive workplace.

- Exceed performance driven goals and routinely measures outcomes
- Develop innovative ways to drive results within company guidelines
- Provide ideas that contribute to the formation of the overall Regional, Area and national business and brand strategies
- Develop and implement reliable, effective metrics to measure outcomes; identifies and recommends changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness through operational and execution excellence
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the evolving dermatology marketplace and its various customer segments
- Employ strong leadership skills, develop business plans for their Areas and implement national and regional level sales strategies
- Lead DBDs and regions of responsibility to meet revenue targets and performance manage where necessary
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and company policies.
- Conduct annual and on-going quarterly performance reviews with team
- Share best practices with direct reports, peers and HQ to shape and evolve strategy and execution to accelerate business impact and amplify a high performance and compliant team culture
- Conduct sales meetings and routine team engagements to drive performance and team engagement
- Assist in developing local thought leader and KOL relationships to achieve aligned objectives.
- Provide direction to the DBDs and DTS on the marketing, allocating, monitoring and leveraging of internal/external resources (e.g., discretionary spend).
Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
- Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree (I.e MBA) preferred
- 10+ yrs. specialty therapeutic sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Dermatology experience strongly preferred
- Cross functional experience in marketing, market access and/or operations strongly preferred
- Ability to motivate, retain, and develop DBDs, and Dermatology Therapeutic Specialists.
- History of successful sales and leadership performance, access and reimbursement experience a plus.
- Documentation of success in annual reviews and up to date sales reports.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and database applications.
- Ability to travel 50% of the time.
- Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
